Most likely TEOTWAWKI scenario?

Many people believe that in our lifetime, more like the next 25 years, that a very destructive or cataclysmic event will play a major role in the restructure of life as we know it. Every day, preppers and people trying to protect their family are looking for ways to better prepare themselves for any such event. As I talk to different people in my community, the one question that seems to be coming up more and more is, what is the event? It is probably the biggest question, but can be the most important. How do you prepare yourself for an unknown catastrophe? If you don't know the scenario you are going to be faced with, how do you know what types of gear, supplies, weapons, shelters, and other goods to have on hand in order to survive?

I've created a list here of some possible scenario's:

Solar flare
Hyper-inflation
Nuclear warfare
Terrorist Attacks
Natural Disasters
Pandemic (widespread disease)

Personally, I fear a pandemic and natural disaster more than any other scenario, only because they are the ones you can't see coming. What scenario are you preparing for? Which one do you think would be the worst likely scenario?

  1. I have always wondered about this. My gut tells me Pandemic but all I hear about these days is money money money. If you asked me in 2001 I might have said Terrorist. I have come to the conclusion it is safest to have a well rounded mind about it and start with the bare essentials for as many possible scenarios as you can. With this we can build and adapt to scenarios we might not have specifically planned for.

    1. Good point, ya with all the different things that have been going on in our environment and government its difficult to determine what types of things to try and prepare for. Having a well rounded strategy is a good idea, because you could spend all your time on the lookout for a tornado to hit your house only to be surprised by a deadly flu. There are a lot of things out there, but being prepared for anything that comes your way is what prepping is all about. Having a large supply of medical equipment, and food/water supplies will be important in any situation. Don't forget to try and keep two different stash locations incase the first one is compromised.
